Time check. 5:00 am. Passport. Check. Start the engine. And off we go. Destination; Nairobi via Entebbe International Airport. Entebbe International Airport. Check-in. The flight. Jambojet. A low-cost airline operating two daily flights between Entebbe International Airport and Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Nairobi. It is the cheapest option for a flight between Entebbe and Nairobi. Launched in February 2018, Jambojet introduced a one-way flight price to Nairobi of $116.
7:50 am. We’re taxing. Moments later. Airbourne. It is an early morning and perhaps you are hungry. As a low-cost airline, the cost of breakfast is on you. An in-flight menu is provided. It is your choice to have breakfast or not – at your cost.
9:05 am. Touch down JKIA. And off to the Four Points Hotel by Sheraton at JKIA for breakfast and a meeting. For a business traveler, this could be your first pitstop for a morning breakfast meeting.
9:30 am. Four Points by Sheraton. Breakfast. Meeting. The airport hotel can host an early morning if you want to avoid the morning traffic on Mombasa road into Nairobi. There is enough space at the hotel to schedule a meeting for more than five people and also enjoy some other touch points like a massage or take a mid-morning swim at the rooftop swimming pool overlooking the Nairobi National Park. Freshen up and after your business meetings, take time to visit the nearest Nairobi National Park.
Midday. The Nairobi National Park. Under threat from the urbanization in Nairobi and infrastructure pressures, the national park is adjacent to JKIA and is within Nairobi city. On your way to Nairobi town for perhaps a lunch meeting, you could try out a 2-hour game drive and look at some of what the park has to offer. These are not caged animals. In fact last year, some lions did end up in some of the residences near the Nairobi CBD. Well, while in the national park you will see Giraffes, Zebras, Ostriches, buffalos and the crocodiles – that is what I saw. You will also notice the frequent flights landing at the JKIA and Wilson Airport. The most recent “attraction” is the Standard Gauge Railway that is being constructed through the national park.
2:00 pm. Lunch. Karen. The Hub Mall. Roast by Carnivore. Meat.
3:30 pm. The Panari Hotel. The Ice Rink. This is perhaps the most attractive feature at the Panari Hotel, located along the road to JKIA. Here you can skate on a Solar Ice Rink, the first I have been to. Kept at temperatures of as low -25*C, you can spend at least one-hour skating. Don’t break a leg. After your skating session, you should now either be planning to spend the night at The Panari Hotel – you could have an evening drink meeting at the hotel – or get set for your Jambojet flight out of Uganda.
5:00 pm. My option. A flight to Mombasa for as low as $42 to Mombasa.
